The Doll’ has been arrested in connection to several targeted killings
A ‘hitwoman’ who has been arrested for a string of murders is known as ‘The Doll’ – and there’s a haunting reason why.
Karen Juliet Ojeda Rodriguez, 23, from Colombia has been arrested in connection to several targeted gangland killings in the country.
The incidents took place in the municipality of Barrancabermeja.
Earlier this week, on 1 December, the Magdalena Medio region’s police shared a video on social media of Rodriguez and another male suspect identified as ‘Leopoldo’.
Police believe Rodriguez is the infamous hitwoman known as ‘La Monica’ also known as ‘The Doll’.
According to The Sun, Rodriguez refers to herself as La Monaca, which translates to ‘The Doll’ in English. In the clip, Rodriguez can be seen in handcuffs, as she’s escorted by officers from a car and into a building.
She’s later filmed standing alongside Leopoldo with her hands behind her back, and her head down, while her eyes are glaring directly into the camera.
Both Rodriguez and Leopoldo are being held by an officer as they stand in front of a handgun, which was said to be found in The Doll’s possession.
Authorities are currently carrying out tests on the weapon and working to establish whether it is related to the killings, The Sun further reports.
It has not yet been revealed what charges she will face, but The Doll’s arrest is thought to be in connection with an ambush assassination of her ex in July.
Magdalena Medio Police say her ex-boyfriend, Devyn Jesus, was caught unaware, after she called him and persuaded him to meet.
Law enforcement in Columbia claim that Rodriguez lured her former lover to the scene of the crime so they could solve an ongoing money dispute.
However, he was then shot a number of times by two men on a motorbike. While he was rushed to hospital after the shooting, he later passed away from his injuries.
Alongside Leopoldo, The Doll was arrested with another suspect, Paula Valentina Joya Rueda, who is aged 24.
Rueda is said to be known as ‘Gordan Sicario’, which translates as ‘Fat Hitwoman’, reports Libertad Digital.
In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Herrera said: “With the capture of alias ‘La Monaca’ and alias ‘Leopoldo’, a part of tranquility is generated in the region.
“These arrests mark an advance in the dismantling of criminal structures responsible for the recent homicides.”
